Bekins Agents and Partners Contribute to Hurricane Relief

October 23, 2024 | Moving Agent News

Amid a devastating hurricane season, several Bekins agents have stepped up to the plate to support relief efforts and help those in need. We are proud to have agents in our network who take care of their community and beyond.

Ridgewood Moving Services Delivers Supplies to North Carolina

Ridgewood Moving Services, an interstate agent for Bekins Van Lines in Mahwah, New Jersey, recently organized a donation drive to support North Carolina residents affected by the recent hurricane.

Cindy Myer, Owner of Ridgewood, along with Mahwah Mayor Jim Wysocki announced the donation drive and immediately received a response from the community and beyond as donations began pouring in. Ridgewood volunteered their warehouse as the donation drop point along with their trucks and drivers to deliver the items.

“It was an amazingly heartwarming experience and the true meaning of communities helping communities,” said Cindy.

During the two-week collection period, about 25,000 pounds of food and supplies were donated. Survival essentials including generators, shovels, wheelbarrows, blankets, sleeping bags, food, toiletries, and more were collected. Members of the local police department and scouting community came together to help sort and organize the donations before the donations were shipped off to make it easier for the people receiving the boxes.

The Ridgewood team filled one moving truck and two pods with the donated goods, and delivered them to emergency distribution centers in Asheville, North Carolina.

Cindy is grateful for the support of the community and her team for helping to make the donation drive a success.

“I am so proud of my team at Ridgewood Moving who totally stepped up and supported all the efforts as well as families and township municipalities that assisted us along the way.”

Mark I Moving & SeaCure Moving Join Forces to Gather & Deliver Donations

The owners of Mark 1 Moving & Storage, Inc., an interstate agent for Bekins’ partner company Wheaton World Wide Moving, gathered donations in Mauldin, S.C., and delivered a tractor trailer full of hurricane relief items to those affected near Boone, N.C.

Upon hearing of Mark 1’s efforts, SeaCure Moving & Storage, interstate agent for Bekins Van Lines, tapped their local community in Tuckerton, NJ, and began collecting donations to include in their delivery.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generous donations from Seacure Moving in New Jersey! We also want to say thank you to the communities that made the donations in NJ! This morning, we unloaded a full tractor-trailer, (24 full pallets) and over the next few days, we’ll be delivering these items to Western NC,” said Kristen Tucker of Mark 1 when SeaCure’s tractor trailer arrived in Mauldin full of donations.

Let’s continue to come together to support those affected by the devastating impact of the hurricane.
