Announced Thursday, February 29 at its fifth annual Van Line Summit & Awards Gala, Bekins awarded top honors to one driver in the network as Driver of the Year. To be eligible for these awards, individuals must first earn a Driver of the Month award between January 2023 and December 2023 and consistently provide superior service to Bekins customers. By their excellent records in claims, customer service and safety, these drivers are among the best in the van lines’ fleet.
Mark Pettigrew, Boerman Moving & Storage, Inc., Woodridge, Ill.
Mark Pettigrew’s journey with CDL trucks began in the early 1990s, initially in the tow truck sector. In 1998, he embarked on a career change and joined Morgan Moving and Storage (then an interstate agent for Bekins Van Lines) based in Booneville, MS. From February 1998 until November 2005, Pettigrew served as an OTR/local driver for Morgan.
When he left Morgan, Pettigrew joined Boerman Moving and Storage and has been a driver for the organization for the past 19 years. In that time, Pettigrew transitioned from being a Company driver to an Owner Operator, now piloting a full-size Kenworth condo sleeper, pulling a 53-foot drop frame trailer affectionately known as a “bertha.”
Pettigrew’s commitment to customer service is unwavering. He prides himself on punctual deliveries and ensuring customer satisfaction, earning consistent top ratings for the past 12 years. Entering his 26th year in the industry, Mark approaches each job with the same enthusiasm as if it were his first.
